THE ARTIST
BIOGRAPHY
Jose Maria Capricorne (1932) is the first artist from Curaçao to study at an art academy. He grew up in Otrobanda between musicians and other artists of that time. His family lived on the Esperanza plantation, where he spent his childhood. This together with the artistic inspiration received, forms the foundation for his creative expression you still see in his paintings today.
Even though he has lived in Holland for quite some years now, the big influence of Curaçao can still be found in his work.
This exposition is themed a day in the circus and is a satirical view on politics.
