Inspiration: Samaaka Muje (Saramaccan woman)

One of the tribes of the descendants of runaway slaves in Suriname is the Saramaccan tribe. They live in the Upper Suriname area, in the district Sipaliwini. It is mainly women who stand out not only by their typical physique, but because they are the engine of the family. The agricultural plots are maintained by the women, they do the washing up on the banks of the Suriname River, they are the homemakers. They are very strong women, often the single provider of the family.
